twitter Search Engine Roundup

A Real Time Vertical Corral

of archeological nomenclature

twittersearchRecently many have been referring to twitter as a search engine. While twitter can indeed be searched, I’m really not so sure that it’s a search engine. In any case, it certainly is not a search engine of the traditional sort ;o). Today’s subject is twitter search engines, yes, engines that search twitter, of which, twitter is one, ever since it acquired Summize (Anyone else feel that thump in your head? With talk like that it’s no wonder old folks can get so cranky and wave us off when we whippersnappers start talking about computers). Well it seems as though that was a perfect fit. The fact of the matter is, not too far from the dubbed founding premise of twitter as a micro blogging platform, if you are looking for micro rants or reviews about absolutely anything and everything, yes even in real time, twitter is the place to search. No doubt twitter is why Google has switched from a aged result form of its algorithm to a recent form. I’m sure it’s no surprise then that the 1st on the list of twitter search engines is…

Google AdWords Keyword Tool

SEM by the numbers

So now, at long last, Google had fulfilled one of it’s greatest promises. Actual, real search volume numbers. No more will we be forced to guess if a green bar 3 is good or, if a green bar 4 is almost 5 or almost 3. Thats right folks real live actual number for search volume. Rumor has it though, that the numbers, much like what Yahoo displays, are inflated.

Leaked facebook Memo

Mark Zuckerberg Gets Sucker Punched

again…

fPresumably leaked this week to a top Internet Journalist was yet another internal memo written by Mark Zuckerberg about the direction of the company facebook, it’s rocketing user base, and it’s unique position in social media, as well as the loss of it’s CFO Gideon Yu. This in conjunction with it’s latest rollout which has obviously taken aim at decapitating what many people expect will soon be twitter.google.com, has elevated many questions about the internal stability of the company during what would seem is an all out war. I can only speculate at what kind of peculiar irony is involved in a company that grows during a recession requiring ever more very expensive resources at a time when you would expect advertising suitors to be pulling back on budgeting or, going out of business altogether. All this while locked in a virtual death match with twitter? On a side note I can’t help but wonder if facebook’s new member or active user data could be used as a leading indicator about the personal economic health of well, the civilized world.

Cuils New Search Engine

Cuil Launches New Search Engine

sounds like “cool” and searches like semantics

Today marked the launch of YANSE (Yet Another New Search Engine) known as Cuil though, in this case, Google may actually take note. A collaborative development, Cuil, pronounced ‘cool‘, has some impressive brain power behind it’s results. Owned operated and developed by former Google search architect notable Anna Patterson who has previously sold Google a search engine and her husband, Stanford Professor Tom Costello, this search engine launches with an enormous amount of potential as well as more indexed pages than Google though unfortunately, with currently limited results.
