FREE AVG Anti-virus Software Review

Magnanimously protecting your PC…

While many of my readers have heard of AVG Free Edition, many still have not so, I thought I would go over the Anti-virus software that protects many of my personal PC’s from the wild west internet. As far as AV solutions go, AVG Free is a well supported, fast and light application that has an easy to use and intuitive interface with definitions that are updated very regularly.

Some Highlights include;

• Real-time safe internet surfing and searching
• Quality proven by 80 million of users
• Easy to download, install and use
• Protection against viruses and spyware
• Compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP

On the down side what you don’t get with AVG 8.5 Free is protection against identity theft, hacker attacks, infected downloads, infected instant-messaging and spam or protection for business computers, networks, and servers. Support from AVG technicians is not included although user-to-user support is available at AVG Free Forum.

• LinkScanner Active Surf-Shield which protects in real time against poisoned web pages while you’re surfing.
• LinkScanner Search-Shield which is a real-time safety ratings for all search results in Google, Yahoo and MSN/Live search and the.
• AVG Security Toolbar which allows easy access to LinkScanner tools with built-in search capability.
