FREE Backup Software

Free FBackup Software Review

Backup Your PC Local, Network and USB

Whether or not you are an internet marketer you need a way to offload your critical data in order to protect yourself against catastrophic system failure and resulting data loss. While a local backup solution will not protect you from fire or flood damage, it will protect you from the number one data loss scenario, equipment failure. A local backup program is the 1st step.

FBackup is an excellent free backup software program available for both personal and commercial use as well. As with any backup program, it protects your important data by automatically copying that data on to any USB or Firewire device, as well as any local or network location.  Once a backup job is defined you can run it manually by pressing the Backup button or you can create a schedule and have the job will run automatically. FBackup will back up sources from local drives including USB devices, to destinations such as USB or Firewire connected devices or mapped network locations creating either standard zip files or exact copies of the original sources.

Features Include;

  • It’s free for personal and commercial purposes
  • Automatic backups
  • Backup with standard zip compression
  • Exact copies of files
  • Run actions before/after backup
  • Easy to use
  • Automatic updates
  • Multiple backup destinations
  • Backup plugins
  • Backup open files
  • Multi-language

Installing FBackup is a breeze. Just download the software from CNET and run the set up in the usual manner. Once completed you will see this screen.

As you can see from the image, you can simply select a predefined type of backup or create your own back up type. Personally I prefer to back up my entire profile but the choice is yours. At this point you will need to run through the steps to create a back up job including name, original location , destination location and then create a schedule if desired. Some of the steps are not quite as intuitive as you would expect but then again, they are not at all difficult either. For a free back up solution, FBackup is not at all bad. The only features that are lacking which I would like to see included are incremental and FTP. Very difficult to go wrong with this software.

Just downloaded and installed it yesterday, slow to perform, but easy to use. I recommend it !

If you do have backup software it’s got to have an automaticscheduling service. FBackup is good but I’d also recommend online backup storage – that way you don’t even have to remember to plug your backup device in.
